School and Childcare Portrait Photography

Work with us..

School Portrait Art partners with professional photographers and fun-loving assistants across Australia.

Photographers

If you're a photographer already operating your own portrait business with an ethos similar to ours then we'd love to hear from you.

Your love of children and photography skills complemented by our training means you can easily add our contract jobs alongside your own business,  focusing only on what you love the most, photography.

Running a volume business presents many complexities in the back end that most photographers simply do not have the capacity to manage.

That's where we fit in partnership.

We believe the level of expertise and care our clients receive from our professionals is second to none due to their experience as sole traders.  Supplement your business operations with as many contracted shoots as you want, depending on your region. We prefer partnering with qualified professionals over employing seasonal photographers who suffer from volume burnout during peak seasons. Take on as many contracts as you want with us that keep your joy in the work you do.

If you're already photographing portrait clients and this work would complement your studio operations then we'd love to hear from you.

Assistants

We have found that the best assistants teaming with our photographers are usually self-employed babysitters. If you are already operating your own babysitting service with an ethos similar to ours then we'd love to hear from you.

Your love of children, playful zest, and organisation skills complemented by our training mean you can easily add our contract jobs alongside your own business,  enjoying what you love.

Vision - Mission - Standards

When you are invited to work on the grounds of a school or childcare centre, you are not only representing School Portrait Art, but you are representing that establishment, their culture and their values.

Empathy and connection are at the forefront of our business operations and we seek to partner with those who also conduct themselves as heart-centred humans.

School Portrait Art partners with businesses that share our people-focused values, and we commit to upholding the cordial atmosphere for the whole community in which we are working.

School Portrait Art makes this promise, as a business and as an individual team member.

Every single job we attend we promise to our clients that our team members bring their authenticity, a friendly smile, helpful demeanour, and confident experience.

All of our team members are encouraged to remind themselves of this as they step out of their car and prepare to work on-site.

I am authentic

I am friendly

I am smiling

I am helpful

I am confident

We always..

Leave our worries in the car.

Take a breath, get present and give the people we are serving our very best version of ourselves and the wonderful talents we share.

Accommodate everyone.

We know everyone has a bad day.

It is not about us and we will stay in our own positive bubbly mindset offering our best solutions.

Check and check again.

Be accurate and thorough in everything you do. It’s OK to slow down and check. Has a child been missed?

Be sure to triple-check with educators that everyone present has been photographed, if not are they in attendance of the centre on day 2.

Don’t be afraid to ask educators to call parents if need be.

Do they look dressed for photographs, is their face wiped, ask for help.

Communicate clearly.

To children, staff, management, your team and parents alike.

Be sure you are clear in what you need to get the job done smoothly.

Be on time, if there is an issue let people know.

Especially when you are communicating with the children.

We pride ourselves on treating children with individual respect like you would an adult.

Talk to them respectfully, they understand you more than you may think.

We never..

Underestimate the intelligence of the children and respect the team we work with.

Always operate with respect and compassion. Speak to children like you would an adult.

Arrive unprepared.

Mentally, and physically. We never get short in our tone with anyone on site.

Take responsibility for your mood, be rested, dress proudly - wear the closed-in sparkle shoes, did you bring a spare camera battery, lens, sunscreen, water and snacks!

Play with our phones.

Even if you have time to fill please just don’t do it. All credibility and professionalism is lost when we sit there scrolling emails and not being present.

The days are short, take the moment to breathe.
